AutoSurvey

Text messages · AutoSurvey core feature

Send survey invitations and reminders by text message.

Reach people on their phones. AutoSurvey sends the text, handles STOP replies and records each delivery in your Salesforce org.

AutoSurvey can send a survey invitation as a text message. Each text carries a private survey link. Text reminders follow the same reminder schedule as email reminders. You choose how texts leave your org: through a supported SMS provider, or through your own Salesforce Flow that calls the text vendor you already use. AutoSurvey keeps a record of each text, each try to send it, and each opt-out in your org.

Reach people who do not read email.

Each campaign has a channel mode: email only, text only, email else text, or text else email. In an “else” mode, AutoSurvey tries one channel. If that channel cannot reach the person, it tries the other.

STOP replies are handled for you.

A STOP reply blocks all AutoSurvey texts to that number in your org. If your text has no opt-out line, AutoSurvey adds “Reply STOP to opt out.” A reply that is not a keyword goes to a person for review.

See what was delivered.

The delivery ledger shows accepted, delivered, not delivered and unknown texts, and an estimated spend. One invitation shows each text, each try, what an error code means, and a Retry button.

How it works

  1. 1An admin opens Text Messaging on AutoSurvey Setup Home. Text sending is off until the admin chooses a sender: a supported SMS provider, or your own Flow.
  2. 2The admin names one sending user. That user turns on sending. All texts go out as that user.
  3. 3In a campaign send or a list send, the sender writes the text. The text can use three placeholders: {link}, {brand} and {first name}. AutoSurvey shows the segment count and an estimated cost. The sender confirms that the people gave consent to get texts.
  4. 4Before each text, AutoSurvey checks the person: a valid mobile number, text consent, Do Not Call, and opt-out. It also checks a sending window in the person’s local time, when it can find the time zone.
  5. 5The texts go out. Delivery reports and replies come back to your org and update the record of each text.
  6. 6A reminder schedule can also send text reminders. By default, a text reminder goes only to a person who did not open the survey.

What it does, and what it does not do

What it does

  • Sends text invitations from a campaign send, a list send and the Send AutoSurvey Invitation Flow action.
  • Sends a text reminder only to a person who got a text invitation. That person never gets an email reminder instead.
  • Skips a reminder when the mobile number changed after the first text.
  • Uses a default sending window of Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 20:00, and Sunday, 12:00 to 20:00.
  • Gives a “Text opt-outs” tab. An admin adds, removes and imports numbers, and decides reviews. Each change needs a reason.
  • Keeps the full opt-out and opt-in history of each number.
  • Shows only the last 4 digits of a phone number to users who do not have the phone viewer permission.
  • Gives Flow actions to record a delivery and to record an opt-out from your own automation.

What it does not do

  • Does not give you an SMS account or a phone number. You bring your own account with your SMS provider.
  • Does not register your number with mobile carriers. You do that with your SMS provider.
  • Does not send WhatsApp messages.
  • Does not take survey answers by text reply. The person answers through the survey link.
  • Does not always accept a START reply on its own. Some START replies go to a person for review.
  • Does not send text reminders from “Send now”. The scheduled run sends them.
  • Does not send a large batch at once. A large send goes out over time.
  • When it cannot find the time zone, uses only the four main US mainland time zones for the sending window.
